"Islands" (and 9 other masterpieces)

Hypnotic choreography I can't stop watching. (2010)

Music videos can be so much more meaningful than full-length movies. They're the perfect script-less short film- big name actors and million-dollar productions aren't required. The editing is usually amazing; after all, they do need to synchronize audio and picture to begin with. Inside jokes are welcomely embedded and there is the constant surprise of cameo appearances by other artists.

The brilliant ones are those that still bring tears when played back on mute. Some of my favourites by year:

Loving the church-ish venue and the rising sheets. (2009)

"A Beautiful Lie" by 30 Seconds To Mars (2008)
"Falls Apart" by Thousand Foot Krutch (2007)
"Pure Morning" by Placebo (2006)

Honestly unsettling. (2005)

"Home" by Three Days Grace (2004)
"Concrete Angel" by Martina McBride (2003)
"Polyamorous" by Breaking Benjamin (2002)

Some apocalyptic Incubus to keep it interesting. (2001)
